Athletics Staffing and Consultants (ASC) has added Terri Howes as a Senior Associate.

Terri Howes joins the ASC team after serving as the SWA at West Virginia University and having spent over 30 years as a senior level executive in intercollegiate athletics. Howes provides extensive background in nearly every phase of collegiate sports, including strategic planning, sport program administration, NCAA rules compliance, diversity & inclusion initiatives, human resources, student-athlete development, facilities operations, event management, marketing and community relations. She also has a proven record of service on institutional, conference and national governance groups.

“We are very excited to bring Terri to the ASC team,” said Carl McAloose, President of ASC. “Terri’s experiences and expertise are matched by few. She will be a great addition to our already exceptional staff.”

Howes began her career at the University of Wyoming in 1988, ultimately serving as the Senior Woman Administrator and Associate Athletics Director with responsibilities in compliance, event coordination, marketing and sport oversight. Her experience during her 10-year tenure at UW included service as the department’s liaison with the Office of Civil Rights during a Title IX review. She was also a member of the leadership team involved in Conference restructure and realignment in 1996.

“I am excited to join the ASC team at this important time for the collegiate sport industry,” said Howes. “I look forward to leveraging my past experience to assist in the growth, success, and sustainability of departments across all levels of higher education.”

She joined the West Virginia University staff in 1998, providing oversight for 19 of the

department’s 21 sport programs. She continued in the roles of SWA and senior management team member, specializing in sport administration, student-athlete development, and governance. It was during her 22-year career at WVU that she became heavily involved in national committee service, including the NCAA Division I Nominating Committee, NACDA Learfield Sports Director’s Cup Committee (eight years as chair), NCAA Division I Administrative Cabinet and NCAA Division I Championships and Competition Cabinet. She was also an integral contributor on the department’s transition team responsible for coordinating the move from the Big East to the Big 12 Conference in 2012.

She remains active in higher education as an adjunct faculty member at West Virginia

University, serving as the lead instructor for sport management courses which have included Organizational Governance, History & Philosophy, Internship & Mentoring, and Introduction to Sport Management.

Howes completed her undergraduate and graduate education at West Virginia University, earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Sport and Exercise Studies.

She resides in Morgantown, WV and has two daughters, Blake and Jordan.
