“I’m very excited to be joining the ASC staff. They have a fantastic reputation throughout the NCAA and NAIA, and I believe they share my passion for making the student-athlete experience even better. ASC has assisted me while I was a Director of Athletics; and now, I get to share my experiences and knowledge with others.”

Marcus brings a wealth of experience from the NCAA, NAIA, MOAA, and NACDA. Further, his enthusiasm for helping student-athletes is matched by few. He will be an outstanding addition to our already superb staff.
Along with his role with ASC, Manning is the Executive Director for the Durham Sports Commission. He is leading efforts to create economic and social impact in Durham by strengthening Durham’s sports culture, expanding access to sports for Durham residents, and attracting and cultivating sports events of all levels in the Bull City that support local businesses and sports.
Manning served as Centenary College’s Director of Athletics and Recreation, as an advisor and consultant for the BASE Foundation in St. Louis, as Maryville University's Director of Athletics and Vice President for Athletics and Recreation, and as Director of Membership and Legislative Services for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
During Manning's tenure at Maryville, the institution added eight NCAA teams and became one of the first institutions in the country to add an E-Sports program. Maryville also saw academic and athletic success, winning the NCAA President’s Award for Academic Success five times in six years and earning NCAA DII Tournament bids in women’s basketball, men’s soccer, softball, and men’s wrestling.
In his time with the NAIA, Manning coordinated NAIA membership applications, oversaw legislative and membership services budgets, assisted in the development of educational materials for institutions and conferences, and served as the liaison to assigned NAIA conferences and committees. Manning also assisted in the initial planning of the NAIA eligibility center and served as the primary legislative spokesperson for the National Office at the Annual Convention and to all media sources.
Manning has served on several boards, committees and councils during his career, including the Minority Opportunities Athletics Association (MOAA), NCAA Pathway Program Selection Committee, Division 2 Athletic Directors Association Board of Directors (D2ADA) Committee, NCAA Foundation for the Future Task Force, National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Executive Committee and USA Cheer-STUNT Advisory Board.
Manning has been honored for his service on campus and within the community, most recently being named the Centenary College 2020 David Womack Leadership Award winner and 2019 Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission Pride Award winner.
